Ways to Di-Stress and Connect with Life Source and Spirit

Sometimes, I find it difficult to stay connected with Spirit with all the things that go on during the normal average day: like living in a crowded city away from the wonderful tranquility of nature, or doing simple 'mindless' things like house chores (such as doing the dishes or taking out the trash) or other necessary tasks like doing my homework, or taking a drive. What's good to know is that these kinds of things can actually help us stay grounded and connected just as much as sitting out in the sun while meditating on the soft grass can.

Tips for Staying Connected to Spirit During Everyday Life:

1) When doing chores, use the time wisely. It's a time to stay grounded and focused and Zen. (A very close friend reminded me about this and my spirit thanks her for it every day.)

2) When taking a drive, let your common sense run the wheel and your consciousness rest for awhile.  You can still take in the sites and scents around you while staying focused on the road.  Sometimes, my best poems have been written while I'm on the road. I stay completely focused on the task so that I and my passengers and the rest of the drivers and people around me are safe, but I also let my thoughts wander a little. Driving for me is also very relaxing and takes my mind off other things. Driving is also a great way to stay grounded, especially if you've been doing some very high-energy spiritual work (i.e. Reiki or working with high-vibrational stones.)

3) Watching TV: this can be very soothing to an over-active and stressed-out mind. Watching TV or movies that are funny or peaceful can let our minds stay focused and calm and let our bodies and consciousness rest before we continue on through the day.

4.) Baths: this is a great way to de-stress. Water is a wonderful healer. When we are less stressed we can feel more connected to everything around us but still feel more balanced and safe within our own skin.

5.) Lighting candles and doing a meditation before bedtime: Limiting activity before bedtime is a great means of clearing the mind of all clutter before bed.

6.) Sleeping with a crystal under or inside your pillow: I like to use different calming stones for this peaceful sleep inducing strategy. One of my most favorite crystals to use for this strategy is a beautiful lovely calming and tumbled piece of Scolecite. You can also use a Rock Salt Lamp like the one shown below, to create a soft calming glow in the room and fill your room with good energies right before you fall asleep.

7.) Drink lots of fluids throughout the day---especially water! Water is your life source and keeps you healthy and going strong. If it wasn't for water, we wouldn't stay alive, and thank goodness for Mother Gaia for providing so much water for us! Love You Mother Earth in All your Fantastic, Gorgeous Spleandor!

New Age Stores of New York: A Reflection on Each County's Best New Age Store!

You might think New Age shops are hard to find these days, but they're not really that hard when it comes to New York state. Aside from the city, many counties have their own unique stores to choose from. Each one is its own little paradise. I'll be examining some of the best stores with regards to their locations in three separate counties: Putnam, Dutchess and my own county of historic and beautiful Westchester.

To start, let's begin with: 

Cat's Moonshine (Located in: Mahopac of Putnam County, NY)

What I love about Cat's Moonshine is that not only are they Putnam County's greatest New Age Store, they have such a large variety in such a cozy little space! Catherine McDonald, the owner, and her crew are always ready to welcome you in with warmth and excitement.  You'll feel right at home in this quaint little shop, which is just off the main road (Rt. 6) in Mahopac, NY. It's right next to a busy tattoo shop, which makes a lot of sense, considering that the tattoo-wearing population are pretty open-minded when it comes to different lifestyles (such as wearing a tattoo for instance). That makes it all the more likely that they would take a moment, after getting a tattoo (of say a dragon or a faerie) and walk right next door into a super-unique shop like Cat's Moonshine. 

You'll find lots of different items here: anywhere from crystal jewelry to clothes, from soft-scented candles to unique hard-to-find books and fashionable furniture. You might feel like you've just entered a whole other world when you come in here and find  yourself surrounded with a magickal greeting of playful faerie folk, fanciful dragons galore and loving angels always close by to lend a hand and watch over you. As if that weren't enough, Cat's Moonshine is also now holding tarot card readings with Lady Reign and more. Plus Catherine McDonald is a also a certified Life Coach who really knows her stuff. She will help you learn to give yourself a better life by delivering invaluable and confidential treatment to you at an affordable cost, infused with an abundance of genuine grace and the wisdom you need: which, in today's world, is often, sadly, hard to find.  

On my last trip, I bought myself a conveniently affordable and lovely Aqua Aura quartz crystal pendant (please see left), which I wear nearly every day and love like crazy. Aqua aura is a type of quartz where the crystal is bonded with gold, creating a breathtakingly lovely, natural-looking but also mind-boggling blue.  

I also bought some Bath Salts designed to protect the user from all evils. The scent was so relaxing and calming that I could have stayed in that bath for hours. (Baths, I find, tend to help alleviate anxiety and help you wind down at the end of the day....I sometimes even read in the bathtub!) In the end, the bath salts I got from Cat's Moonshine helped me to get a much better sleep. Did I feel more protected afterwards? You bet! The Magick of Moldavite: Quite a Mystery!

~The Magick of Crystal Energy and the Mystery of the Moldavite Rush~

I had always known that crystals were special, but I never knew that they could alter your state of consciousness or make you feel a buzz through your hands.  This was before I was introduced to Moldavite. Moldavite is a dark to light green, sometimes rough, other times smooth, always gorgeous looking crystal that was formed when an enormous meteor made impact with the Earth about  14.7 billion years ago, in the Czech Republic. The impact of the meteor against the surface of the Earth was so intense that pieces of debri from the meteor solidified with sand and, after cooling, transformed into "glass".  Whenever a crystal is formed by this type of creation, it's known as a "Tektite". There are other types of Tektite, but Moldavite is one of the highest-energy stones that I know of when it comes to Tektites in my opinion (and I'm sure a lot of others would agree). It's pretty amazing holding such a thing, knowing that most of its contents originally came from somewhere "up there", after having hurtled towards Earth at unbelievable speeds, before crashing violently into the Earth and creating this odd-looking stuff. 

Not everyone can feel a crystal's energy, but there's something rather special about Moldavite when it comes to this. Even when a person is new to the magick of crystals, Moldavite can invoke directly into a person's very being a powerful gust of psychic energy which is known as the "Moldavite Rush". When you feel this rush, it's unmistakable....You start to feel quite warm, your hands start to tingle, and the Moldavite almost feels alive in your hand! Sometimes, people feel either light-headed, dizzy, or can even feel slightly nauseous, but that depends on how exposed you are to crystal energy, and everyone's experience with crystals are different. 

Personally, my "Moldavite Rush" was very gentle and heart-centered. It felt as though I were being instantly enveloped by gentle unseen arms, wrapping me up in a warm and loving hug.  Afterwards I felt as though I were floating on a cloud! Everything around me seemed brighter: the blue in the sky, the white of the clouds, the green of the trees. Life seemed to hum and vibrate all around me. Never before had a crystal done this to me and I was astonished, delighted, and awe-struck, and totally loving the energy of the Moldavite. It was such a magical experience. I owe a close friend for sharing her Moldavite with me, and ever since then, I have been experiencing magical and amazing things through crystals! 

On this blog, I will be posting pictures of crystals and talking about their healing abilities and how they have helped me. I will also be sharing other experiences I have had with my connection to both our wonderful Mother Earth and the Spirit World. I have been told by some that I am a Psychic and a Healer, though I don't like to go by titles and I don't profess to work any miracles.  I am simply me, and I try to do my best with  my day as life rolls along.
